How a Rainy Day Estate Sale Sparked My Passion for Vintage Glassware

Over the past year, I’ve embarked on an unexpected adventure that’s changed how I see the world of glass art. It all started as a way to expand my inventory, but it quickly became something much more meaningful—a treasure hunt through time.

I remember how wet it was that morning, stepping around muddy puddles after a significant rain the night before. At a local estate sale, I spotted a few unassuming shot glasses among the items on a weathered table. As I began researching back at home, I was floored to discover they were Moser crystal glasses—timeless designs still sold at places like Bergdorf Goodman. That moment was when I realized this wasn’t just a fun hobby; it was an opportunity to offer something truly special to my customers.

Every hunt is its own adventure. I rely on instinct and taste, looking for the sparkle of a handmade piece or a maker’s mark that hints at a story waiting to be uncovered. The real thrill begins when I bring these treasures home and dive into their histories. Sometimes, a piece turns out to be mass-produced, but other times, it’s like striking gold—a handmade, colorful piece from a renowned European glassmaker.

Of course, there are funny moments too. Every time I roll up to checkout with a cart overflowing with glass, the clerk can’t help but chuckle, “That’s a lot of glass you’ve got there!” It’s all part of the charm of this journey.

Curating these pieces has taught me so much—not just about glass but about the timeless appeal of thoughtful craftsmanship. I’ve been careful to bring back only the pieces that feel alive, the ones I know will sparkle and delight in someone’s home.

Next time, I’ll be sharing some of my absolute favorite vintage finds that are now available for purchase. Each one is a story you can hold, and I can’t wait for you to see them.

In the meantime, I’d love for you to explore the vintage section of my website. Who knows—you might find your own hidden gem waiting there.
